Waterfall trail and 260-acre lake at BLM's Loon Lake Rec Site, ~15 miles east.
This trail departs from the beach at Loon Lake. After passing through old-growth fir, spruce, and hemlock forest along the lakeshore, it takes a short climb to the falls, where hikers can walk right to the base of the cascading water and a bench offers a spot to rest and take in the scenery. Located 13 miles east of Reedsport on Highway 38; turn south at signs for the Loon Lake Recreation Area, drive 7 miles, turn right into the recreation area, and continue to the end of the day-use lot — the trail is right of the beach/picnic area near the restrooms. Distance: 0.5 miles one way. Difficulty: Easy. Fee required for parking; facilities at trailhead.
