ABOUT
Public 900-foot crabbing and fishing dock in Winchester Bay's Windy Cove Park.
A 900-foot public crabbing and fishing dock on Salmon Harbor in the heart of Winchester Bay, part of Douglas County's Windy Cove Park at the confluence of the Umpqua River and the Pacific Ocean. It's one of the most popular spots on the Oregon coast to catch Dungeness crab — best from late summer through winter — with ocean-view parking, restrooms, and day-use picnic facilities nearby; you can also pick up perch and other bay fish in spring and summer. From US-101 in Winchester Bay, turn north on Broadway, then take an immediate left onto Salmon Harbor Drive and follow it to the water. A valid Oregon shellfish license is required to crab here — get yours from ODFW before you go. No gear? You can rent crab pots and rings nearby at Salmon Harbor Marina, or from local tackle shops like Salmon Harbor Tackle and Umpqua Bait & Tackle, which also carry bait, licenses, and gear.
